These past few months, we’ve put a lot of effort into setting up the launch, and seeing the large number of crowdfunding supporters has made everything worthwhile.
The Biota Aquarium will soon become available to a limited number of pet store owners and wholesalers as a drop-ship solution.
The Biota all-in-one aquarium was conceived on a common frustration among novice aquarists. Founders Kevin Gaines and Tom Bowling noticed people who are interested in starting a fishkeeping hobby find it too demanding to set up a saltwater aquarium.
Beginners are uncertain which equipment to buy, which fish to choose, and how to put everything together. To address this confusion, our founders coordinated with different providers in the industry to produce a complete, compact aquarium that can be prepared in a few steps.
A Biota Aquarium standard package includes everything beginners need to create a healthy, beautiful aquarium. The components will be delivered to customer’s doorsteps in three shipments, with interactive instructions and guidance along the way:
If customers choose the deluxe package, they will get a six-month supply of fish food and a choice of four cultured corals. Options include Zoanthid Coral, Long Polyp Leather Coral or the Green Polyp Leather Coral. Everything will be delivered along with the fish in the third shipment.
Below is a video on how to setup a Biota Aquarium at home, in a classroom or in an office. The entire process requires 10 – 14 days to complete. Customers receive detailed setup guides and can refer to our tutorial videos on the Biota Aquariums’ website.
Biota Aquariums is a brainchild of ocean lovers who have first-hand experience in the marine trade. Kevin is a microbiologist with decades of experience in fishkeeping, fish breeding, and aquarium retail. He founded the world’s largest coral farm in Florida and currently serves as a director of the Coral Restoration Foundation.
Our CEO, Tom is a biologist, commercial diver, and aquaculture technician. He has experience in aquaculture, public aquariums and marine science around the world.
Both want to attract a new generation to marine fishkeeping without taking anything from the ocean for the hobby. This is the primary reason why all livestock included in the package are captive-bred, and a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to ocean conservation initiatives through the organization, 1% for the Planet.
With this aquarium, Kevin and Tom hope more young adults and children will be inspired to explore the wonders of the ocean and to protect marine life.
